Devised Work - Master Teaching Artist/Director

Creating "devised" work is always a fascinating ride because it is literally crafted as we go by the students/cast who makeup the ensemble. Here I had the task of devising a theatre piece exploring empathy and negotiation skills with middle school students for a project with Broadway Center for the Performing Arts. I worked within a rehearsal model called Rasaboxes adding neutral mask work as an additional theatrical device. It was very rewarding work. The cast self-titled their work Two Roads Diverged and I Took the Empathetic Path.

I presented an academic paper on this work at the Mid America Theatre Conference, March 2014, in Cleveland.
